Module 9
Pleistocene Glaciation

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Pleistocene glaciations molded and modified the landscape that we see today through repeated growth and decay of large continental ice sheets over the past 2 million years. This module describes the events surrounding the most recent glaciation when Southern Ontario was buried under more than a kilometre of ice.

  • Relate land features we see today to the glacial history of Southern Ontario.
  • Describe the economic and industrial importance of glacial deposits.
