Habit: Grass green, olive green, yellowish, white or pink to rose red. Thin to thick pseudo-hexagonal crystals with tapering pyramidal faces; commonly foliated, fibrous, granular, earthy or massive. Pearly, greasy or dull luster; transparent to translucent. White streak.
Environment: A hydrothermal alteration product of amphibole, pyroxene and biotite.
Etymology: From its inclined optic axes and the Greek chloros, meaning "green," for its common color.
