Habit: White. Tabular crystals rare; usually nodular masses. Subvitreous, glimmering luster; translucent in thin fragments. White streak.


Environment: Found in borate deposits.


Etymology: Named after Henry How (1828-79), a Canadian chemist, geologist and mineralogist at the University of King’s College, Windsor, Nova Scotia, who first described the mineral.
