Habit: Colorless, gray, pale yellow, pale green, yellowish brown or pale red. Crystals typically short to long prismatic but may be acicular or pseudo-hexagonal; also columnar, fibrous, rounded, granular, powdery or massive. Vitreous luster, resinous on breaks; transparent to translucent. White streak.
Etymology: Named after where it was discovered, Strontian, in the Lochaber district of Scotland.
